  • I hear this question a lot and, to be honest, there is no right answer. In my opinion, everyone can benefit from therapy. We don’t have to wait until a crisis occurs before we get the support we need. With trauma work, it’s usually not a question of “if” but “when”. If you found yourself here, then you are probably ready to do the work to heal. It can be scary at first, but I frequently hear from clients that they wished they had come to therapy sooner.

  • I primarily work with adult individuals aged 18 and over. I also love working with motivated teens! I do not provide therapy for young children, couples, or families at this time.

  • During therapy sessions, we will work collaboratively to explore your experiences, emotions, and thoughts and how these affect you in the present. We will use various techniques including EMDR, IFS, and somatic (body-based) practices to support your healing and growth. Trauma therapy is different from traditional talk therapy in that it often does not require you to go into detail about your trauma, which can be triggering and re-traumatizing. We will focus more on the underlying feelings and beliefs that affect you in the present.

That being said, many clients find relief in being able to open up about their lives in ways they haven’t been able to before. But I will never push you to share things you aren’t comfortable with and the treatment modalities I use don’t require you to share details or re-live the experience. As trust builds in therapy, you may find you feel more comfortable sharing but know that it is not required for your healing. I will give you the space and time you need to find what works for you.

  • At the start of therapy, I most commonly see clients on a weekly basis. I have found that it is most helpful for clients to continue with weekly or biweekly counseling appointments because it allows for a client to begin seeing growth without feeling like they are starting over at each visit. However, sometimes circumstances may dictate otherwise, and we can work together to determine a plan that works for you.

  • This is a hard question to answer because it is specific to each person. Some people find that they meet their goals and complete therapy in a relatively brief amount of time - say, a few months. On the other hand, I have some clients that I’ve met with for years who continue to see benefits from ongoing therapy. Sometimes, people leave for a while and then return as new issues crop up in their lives.

Whatever course of therapy is right for you, many clients see at least some benefit after working together for a few sessions, especially once we get into the thick of trauma processing. I will check in with you regularly to make sure that we’re seeing progress from our work and collaborate with you on making adjustments if we’re not.

  • My office is located on the north side of Indianapolis. While I recommend in-person sessions, I am licensed to provide virtual services to anyone living in the state of Indiana.

  • My office is located less than a 5 minute drive from the Monon Trail at 96th Street. This is a convenient location with free parking, a restroom, and water fountains.

  • Yes. I offer virtual sessions for Indiana residents through a HIPAA-compliant video platform. However, for trauma work, I recommend in-person sessions because it provides a safe container for you to do the work without taking it back out into the world with you. Virtual is a nice option to lean on occasionally when life gets a little more hectic.

  • Yes, therapy is confidential. As a licensed clinical social worker, I am required to maintain the confidentiality of our sessions, except in certain circumstances such as if you disclose intent to harm yourself or others or report suspected child abuse or neglect.

  • I charge $150 per 50 minute session. I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots. Payment is due in full on the day of your session.

  • I do not take insurance. I offer the option of superbills, which is a receipt of services that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. You will need to check if you have out-of-network mental health benefits through your insurance. Some helpful questions to ask your insurance company:

    • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

    • What is my deductible for out-of-network coverage? Has it been met?

    • What percentage of each session will I receive as reimbursement?

If you would like to receive superbills, please let me know.

  • I charge a cancellation fee equal to the cost of your session if you cancel less than 48 hours before your session (or if you don't show up for an appointment). You can cancel and/or reschedule your session prior to this 48 hour window via the Client Portal.
